Welcome to The Allure of Neglected Dragons!

Learn to find your dragon's Time of Death!

It doesn't even require math!

Start with the time the dragon hits 0 days left.
In this example, we'll say that happened at 10:11.
Analog clock showing 10:11
As you can see, the blue hour hand is pointing to the 10,
and the green minute hand is pointing to 11 minutes.
In this example, we'll say that happened at 2:54.
Analog clock showing 2:54
As you can see, the blue hour hand is pointing almost at the 3,
and the green minute hand is pointing to 54 minutes.
To find the Time of Death (which is half an hour later),
simply flip the minute hand to point the opposite direction.
Analog clock showing 10:41
The minute hand, once flipped, points to 41 minutes instead.
This gives us a time of death of 10:41.
Analog clock showing 3:24
The minute hand, once flipped, points to 24 minutes instead.
In this case, however, flipping the minute hand caused it to reach and pass the 12, which means we moved into a new hour.
This results in a time of death of 3:24.
Now apply that concept to any other time, and you'll be on your way!

Finding ToD in Advance

To find the Time of Death before the dragon hits 0 days...
Start by tracking when the hour changes. Once you have the time of change, add half an hour, as explained above. Then, add the remaining time given on the dragon's page. The resulting time will be the Time of Death.

For example, if your dragon has 3 days and 4 hours remaining on Tuesday, and drops to 3 days and 3 hours at 5:33, half an hour later will be 6:03. Adding the remaining three hours gives you 9:03. Three days from Tuesday is Friday.

So the ToD will be at 9:03 on Friday.

A Few Tips

Spend less time refreshing
Instead of spending a whole hour refreshing to catch the dragon's hour-change, start by narrowing the options. Spend the first hour refreshing once every 10 minutes, until the dragon's time changes. Record the refresh time prior to the change, and the refresh time after the change (e.g. 9:20 and 9:30). Then in the next hour, find the exact moment by refreshing only during the 10-minute interval in which the change ocurred.
Avoid time zone confusion
When you want to share the ToD with other experimenters, use "xx" in place of the hour. If it is currently 3:15, and you have an experiment that dies, according to your clock, at 6:35, tell others that it dies "at xx:35 in 3 hours" instead. That way, everyone can easily adjust the hour to their own time zone, rather than wondering if 6:35 for them is at the same time as 6:35 for you.
Always unfog on time
Once you have found the ToD, subtract 5-10 minutes and record the result as your unfog time. If you have a bad memory or would like a reminder when it's time to unfog, set up an alarm to get your attention.
